Immediate Fire Action in the Workplace (1/2 Day)
It is recommended that everybody in the workplace is trained in immediate fire action in the workplace. It is particularly important where there is a high risk of fire such as petrol stations, chemical factories, construction sites etc. This course covers the topics below and is designed specifically to your company’s activities.
- Basic components of fire
- Primary and secondary hazards associated
- with fire
- An effective understanding of the safe person concept and dynamic risk assessment
- Practical session to experience the capabilities and limitations of portable fire fighting extinguishers

Fire Warden Course (1 day)
A general standard is that there is at least one trained Fire Warden / Marshall in every building where there is 20 or more employees on the ground floor and/or 5 or more employees on a floor above or below ground level. This course covers all topics from our ‘Immediate Fire Action in the Workplace’ course (see above) in addition to the following:
- Increased knowledge and understanding of dynamic risk assessment
- Detailed understanding of the decision making process
- Thorough understanding of the current company Fire Policy and Health & Safety Policy
- Evacuation procedures and group behaviour (to also include phased evacuation, if appropriate)
- Workplace fire prevention including:
- Safe practices of work
- End of day routines
- Enforcing smoking policy
- Flammable substances
- Site security
- Emergency Services and Interagency Liaison
